For systems demanding high starting torques or high speeds—such as medium-voltage switches or mixers—series-wound motors with series-connected armature and field windings are available. If, on the other hand, precise and simple speed control under varying loads is required, the speed-stable shunt-wound motors provide the optimum solution for belt drives or medical technology. For conveyor technology, where a high starting torque is prioritized over absolute speed consistency, compound-wound motors combine the advantages of both winding types.
