It collects data from sensors, aggregates it on the gateway, and — depending on the architecture — synchronizes or visualizes it locally or on servers. Remote maintenance and over-the-air updates for the software itself, as well as the underlying infrastructure, are integrated.

Machine and sensor data is supported via common industrial protocols such as Modbus, OPC UA, CAN, MQTT, and REST. LoRaWAN is natively supported; gateways can also provide clients with firmware updates.

The received data can be processed directly on the gateway or transferred to servers or the cloud via synchronization. Connection interruptions can be buffered so that no data gaps occur.
Depending on the architecture, data can be visualized, analyzed, and exported directly at the edge or in a server environment. Alerts and status queries support your operation, service, and maintenance teams.

For production operation, david IoT provides multi-tenancy, roles, APIs, reports, and documented export options. The stack is based on established technologies such as Docker, PostgreSQL, MQTT, and REST. Source code access or escrow models can reduce vendor lock-in and secure exit scenarios.
