System for energy recovery - Energy Recovery System (ERS) feeds energy directly back into the system network!

An optimally developed system not only requires in-depth know-how but also a broad perspective on society and its requirements. Especially in the age of Industry 4.0, not only should the immediate benefit be a criterion, but sustainability also plays an important role. So that such aspects flow together in a solution, the developers at MSF-Vathauer Antriebstechnik have opened up a new dimension in decentralized drive automation. An innovation that at the same time meets the demands of the user and also takes sustainability, energy efficiency and the environment into account.

Energy recovery system (ERS)

The energy recovery system combines precisely these two points of view. Excess energy from a standard drive and from a servo drive is not converted into heat by braking resistors, but rather returned to the system by the ERS, so that the total energy consumption of your systems and machines is reduced. Due to its compact design, which is similar to a braking resistor with the same performance, the ERS is used to retrofit existing systems or is designed for new systems.

This system enables standard AC motors and servo drives to recover energy up to 5kW peak power directly and without loss. In the case of an electrical drive that is operated with a frequency converter, the kinetic energy generates electrical energy, which under certain circumstances can only be partially absorbed by the frequency converter. The surplus energy (braking operation) is fed back directly to the system by the ERS system (network recovery). In the past, energy-destroying braking resistors were used – today the ERS is planned at this point. With the ERS, you put your existing and your new systems on a future, sustainable and energetic level, with which you meet the high demands of your customers.
